How do you activate the anti-theft system on a 2004 Chevy Malibu LS?

I just bought a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu LS
it came with the lock-unlock and open-trunk and panic controller/remote

but i was wondering if it has an active anti-theft/alarm system - when i lock it with the remote, the lights flash and horn beeps (like every1 else), but i was wondering if the alarm becomes ARMED once i lock it...

im gonna look into the manual for help but just thought it'd be cool to ask a question on Yahoo Answers! (my 1st question!!!!)

There are two ways to activate it.
First, as you know with the remote,second by putting the key into the driver door switch and unlocking then locking the door.
reverse prodeadure to deactivate alarm.
Once activated just pull the door handle and alarm will go off.

Of course it does. You can check by taking an object and a)either breaking the glass of your car or b)hitting your car really hard, depends on how sensitive your system is
