I am not aware of how your model is built, but I have bypassed the AC on a Malibu previously on an older model and I was not able to simply put a shorter belt if your setup allows you to do so, you can go ahead and simply put a shorter belt, on the model that I worked on I had to add an extra ``dummy`` pulley so I could bypass the belt away from the AC. You can remove your belt see which direction each pulley turns and with a piece of string try and route a new way for the belt, hope this helps.
