How come the radio in my Chevy Cobalt doesn't work anymore?

I drive a 2007 Chevy Cobalt and my radio pretty much does not work anymore. I say "pretty much" because once in a great while it will turn on for a few minutes, then shut back down. Sometimes the radio display works and the time is shown and other times it is completely blank. So it can't be a blown fuse, but what else could be wrong? I called GM and they were not willing to help.

well there is most likely a short in the wires some where.
go to best buy or a local speaker shop and they can tell you for sure.
you may just need a new one.
