My o4 Chevy Malibu wont play CDs for some reason. I put the CD in and it says "Reading Text" and spits the CD out. If i can fix it, great! but if i can't, I want to replace it. But my problem is that I wont have the messages that they so nicely put in the CD player screen like "trip A trip B, oil life, etc." and to buy a CD player from the dealership is like $400 plus labor! so I'm thinking aftermarket, but will i still have my messages? if not, is there somewhere/someone who sells aftermarket stereos that support the messages?
for the price of the dealerships stereo, i could spend less and have a stereo/DVD player with a 7" screen! but will i still have my messages that are on the manufacturer CD player like "oil life, fuel econ, trip A, trip B"?
The CD player doesn't work with burnt OR store bought CD's. I have tried several CD's in it and none of them work. Im not sure how long this problem has been going on with the car since i JUST bought the car. I'm thinking about an aftermarket stereo, but i am afraid of loosing the messages...
