Hi All,

Newbie here from Socal.

I acquired a 1990 V2500 thru a trade. Love the truck... Needs mostly cosmetic stuff.

First thing that went was the saggy headliner. Now, I have a tin can... LOL

I really don't want to put back a traditional headliner out of fabric. Was thinking about reinforcing the headliner boards and maybe putting a durabak coating on them.

Is this a doable project or am I just dreaming? LMAO

any thoughts & ideas are welcome

Hey, I'm from socal and ALSO have a 1990 2500, AND have replaced the healdliner! Here's what you do: go to an upholstery supply shop like UFO and buy the fabric (it will be special foam backed headliner fabric) and the spray glue. Take off your old headliner which is two large pieces of cardboard and strip off the old liner/foam. glue on the new, let it dry & install.

VanGo,

Thanks for the online upholstery link! I'm fortunate to have a great store close by, but It's great to have options...thanks for sharing!

You're welcome! Do you remember how much fabric it took to do your 'burb?
I miss SoCal. I used to be stationed at El Toro back in the mid-70's

I'll check my receipt...2.25 linear yards x $12/per total of $27, plus adhesive. This is the actual headliner fabric w/the foam backing in Blue which matched the original perfectly. HOWEVER, I only needed to do the front, since the Back was perfect (thank you local junkyard!) They cut it off a roll that is pretty wide, I'm not sure of the width, but its 4-6 ft.

Purchased at UFO which has no website listed, but their number is
619 - 477 - 7742.

Btw - You would not recognize the area around El Toro if you haven't been back recently.
