honda and toyota were great in the 90s, and have slowly been getting worse. honda at this point is still okay, but they're getting really bad to be honest. toyota has messed up really bad by abusing their reputation for creating quality cars and skimping on quality in the 2000s, they're not reliable at all and are really dangerous, they have recalled over 50% of all their cars in the past 10 years.
ford and GM have been the other way around, minus their sports cars and trucks, in the 90s they were infamous for their cheap plastic cars. but now they have finally stepped up their game, and are able to compete with even the germans for quality. they have surpassed the japanese except maybe nissan. the fusion and malibu are great cars, and get amazing gas mileage. the new regal is supposed to be awesome too, very good styling and pretty damn luxury inside.
