New to the Chevy Suburban and the forum here. My name is Rich and last week i picked up a 1993 Chevy Suburban. Interior is in fairly good condition, Green and Gold two toned exterior sitting on after market wheels and rims. 282,000 on the clock. Few things to get done to it in the next few weeks is new plugs, wires, rotor button and distributor cap. I just bolted in a new A/C Compressor and im awaiting the vacuum pull on it and then will fill it with 134A and fingers crossed it will work. Over all first impressions is it seems like a damn sturdy truck. Anyone have any tips on other bullet point items i should be looking at on this thing and or typical go do things that happen to need to be replaced?

Thanks.

welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase. One thing to go over is if you dont know the age of the various fluids and filters, change/replace them.

If it was mine, I would also run a can of "seafoam" fuel system cleaner thru the system to remove any moisure and clean the throttle body injectors.:)

Definitely worth to change the oil and fluid just to be sure. Welcome and enjoy

Thanks everyone. So far I have induced seafoam through the vacuum line that feeds the brake booster and metered it with a petcock valve to not hydro lock the engine or stall it. Fresh oil change, and bled the brakes. I've crawled under and scoped it out, it's in need of some front end work, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arms and shocks. Aside from that, heat shield needs to come off as its rattling and small things here and there. Drivable as is so far.

i would drop the transmission pan and replace the filter and also change the differential gear oil.

Nice figuring out the heat shield rattle! It will be annoying on highway.
