I'm new to this so have a question... I recently came across a base 1971 base Nova in pretty good condition. It is all original except the hood. All numbers matching and even have the original build sheet a sticker price sheet for it. It has a 307 in it with the powerglide tranny. My question is...since it's all numbers matching, should I just rebuild the engine, tranny and beef them up a little or should I replace with a bigger engine? I'm not really interested in going as fast as I can...I'm a little old for that now. Just want to have it to take to some shows and possibly get the most value in the future. Any advice would be appreciated.

The choice is yours, you are not going to get much power out of a 307. You could switch to a larger engine and a 4 speed automatic and hang onto the original engine and transmission. Much of what you decide to do is related to your budget. The changing engine and trani can lead to a constant upgrade path, you probably would want to change the rear end gears and switch to springs from an SS, etc.
