I'm not getting a new car, my niece who is going to be turning 18 is looking for a used car.
I have been helping my sister-in-law (her mother) by researching and looking for a good first car for her. My niece has mentioned to me that she really likes the Chevrolet Cavalier. I know they don't make it anymore, but you can find a lot of cheap, used ones.

BUT...I know it is a very small car, so that kinda concerns me safety-wise. I just want to know opinions, safety, anything about Chevy Cavaliers!

(I have only owned SUVs, so I really don't know a whole lot about small car safety or anything)

Thanks so much!

Please use the link posted to look up some really good info on the different years cavaliers and safety info.Best of luck. http://autos.msn.com/?vendor=yahoo&pkw=autos_at_msn&LNX=MSNATSRCHLINKS&ocid=iSEM_Y_Autos&refcd=yh7e2eaae280f65e82c4b29519b0b45071&mtcr=std|7700406511

The Chevrolet Cavalier will last her, my aunt has a 2005 with about 130k miles on it and it runs perfectly. If you're concerned about safety, the Cavalier IS NOT the way to go. It has an extremely bad crash test rating, receiving 1 star out of 5. Personally, if she wants a car that is small and good on gas, she should go for the Saturn Ion. They're dent resistant, have a good crash test rating (I flipped one into a ditch and walked out with only a bruise), and look good. Plus the insurance is pretty cheap on them!
