Posting for a buddy. He has a 2003 malibu 6 cylinder. The fans are not kicking on causing it to overheat. He said he checked all the fuses and they are all good. Any ideas as to what would cause both fans to not turn on?

could be the fan motors, the sensor, the fan relay, or a wire harness issue. Do you have at a minimum a test light or voltmeter? Can you apply power directly to the motors to test them?

Errrrr, ahaaaa, pardon me Zora, this is to help amplify your recommendation to "apply power directly to the motors to test them".

Can I please recommend that you totally disconnect the fan(s) from the connecting cable/connector and apply the test voltage directly to the motors with nothing else attached?

That's because many times devices like this are switched on and off via a solid-state device (power transistor or computer in example) and reverse voltage into a solid-state device can possibly cook it.

Said another way; the temptation to apply voltage to connector pins while still connected with a probe (in example) could be destructive to other devices.

I hope this helps!

Anthony
