i have a 02 suburban that drains the battery dead if i dont start it every day. i found that if i pull my fuse to my cargo lights it will no longer drain my battery. has anybody had the same problem and if so what did you do to fix it? i dont just want to leave the fuse out. i belive the body control moduel is bad and causeing this to happen. i dont want to change it and find out that im wrong. has anyone ran into this?
 
Which fuse are you pulling (location, amp, label on cover) - I'm looking at a diagram and I'm looking to see if there are any other loads that could be shorting out causing the battery to drain.
 
Find the plug to your BCM and try cleaning it with some electrical contact cleaner. Plug and unplug it several times as this will help "sweep" the contacts clean too. I'd try that before buying another one. I would think that if the BCM were defective, you'd have more problems than just the one with the cargo lights.
 
You are not alone. I have I have a 03 silverado 2500 hd with the classic "battery drain issue" while putting my trickle charger on my 6 month old battery the last time my panic alarm went off on the truck. Ever since that day my key fob has failed to work I keep losing my seat position memory and some times when the passenger seat heater is turned on it shuts off drivers seat heater. I also noticed when I remove my key I hear an audible beep from under dash. I have seen countless number of posts on the 02-03 chevy truck and suburban battery drain problem without a definitive answer on how to resolve the problem. It also wants to die at low rpm or shifting from drive to reverse after charging and restarting after couple days of driving computer seems to relearn and idle is fine. Sorry to ramble I was just wondering if you have had same additional problems after your battery has drained. Thanks for reading. Much luck to you.
 
Chutch41 - check and clean your battery cables - if you have multiple wires on one post - pull them all apart and clean where they each make contact. Same thing for your ground wires off the battery where they attach to the frame.

These systems are known for losing electrical connection from this problem which can cause all kinds of problems.
 
I have a 4 post battery. I'm using my side terminals with new ends on cables and nothing on top posts. When I replaced my battery I got the top posts for easier jump cable hook up and to add accessories if ever needed but currently have no extras on my battery. Only thing I haven't done is check frame ground so i will give that a try. Thanks for the suggestions Spriteman.

Hy all. I have the same on my 01' Suburban. Im pretty sure it's the OnStar brain. I used to hear a strange noise on the little speaker above the drivers side head. Now there is a 23 mA drain and has to be charged every couple days if not used. I used to have a radio amplifier drain but that since has gone away. I need to find the OnStar brain before I lose mine... Anybody???
 
I've had the same problem with my 03. It'll run great for a long time. Then when we let it sit for a week or so it just drains the battery. I'm gonna look into the BCM fuse and try that.
Problem is that it is so intermittent that I just never know.
