I own a 08 chevy impala and just fixed a water pump leak, fixed with the help
of Zora.

Never over heated.

And now it has the P0172 code. I own a carmd in which it has paid for it's
self many times.
The info that carmd gives is below.

P0172: Long Term Fuel Trim Multiplicative Min Value, Air/Fuel Too Rich

Generic Definition:

Code P0172 indicates that the Bank 1 System is too rich for a predetermined period of time.

Areas to Inspect - Possible Causes:
Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor

Faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor

Air Leakage After Throttle Valve

Faulty Fuel Pump

Poor Fuel Injector Flow Rate

Condition For Setting The Code:
* Engine Running and in Closed Loop * Fuel Trim Adaptation is below -25% for more than 30 seconds

go over what you did to change the water pump looking for anything electrical or vacuum that was not connected, poorly connected, or cracked.

P0172 - GM
Type Powertrain - Fuel and Air Metering - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description
Fuel Trim System Rich Conditions
Location Bank 1
Cause
Engine running at steady speed in closed loop, IAT sensor input from 14-158°F, BARO input over 75 kPa, fuel tank level over 25% and the PCM detected the LONGFT value was over -30% for 5 seconds, or the SHRTFT value was over -20% for 45 seconds

Well I put some sea foam in the tank and ran it to town a few times
and now the light went off.

So hope it stays off. Did not find nothing unhooked or nothing.
