I replaced the master & slave on my sons 2004 cavalier ls 5sp. I feel like I bled everything completely. but the clutch pedal will lock up, right when it should start to engage it just stops. Does this with or w/o battery hooked up. If I break the bleed screw on slave pedal will go to floor, work for a while then lock up again. any advice would be appreciated , at a real lose here.

thanks

if I understand your problem correctly, with the engine running and the clutch pedal completely depressed you cannot shift into any gear.
Why did you replace the master and slave?
Did you compare the master and slave you removed to the new parts and there was no obvious difference?

No clutch pedal will not go down. Push it then where it usually would start to engage it just locks up. Can't push down anymore. I replaced slave & master because pedal was on the floor. Thanks

how far down does the pedal go?
with the engine running, if you try to shift into first, does it grind?
did you compare the parts?
you may have a defective slave

Parts all fit good. Running or not when the pedal locks up its right at the point where it would start to engage/ disengage the clutch. When it is locked up I can't even start the car. My son has been the one driving it when its happened, not home now to ask him how it reacted. Do you think improper bleeding could cause it? This happens then I let it sit for a bit and then pedal will be fine, use it a few times locks up again

air in the system would cause a spongy peddle not a hard one, I think you have a defective slave since you say when the bleed screw is opened it will go all the way down.

Thanks. I was afraid of that this one is inside the transmission
