I keep it up very well never miss an oil change never miss a tune up. Is this 2004 truck with 79,000 miles on it worth putting about 4,000 in it to fix the bed and a few dents in it? Or should I just keep it for a new one?

Chevy Silverado work truck v6 4.3 engine does this truck usually last a long time?

No one knows the truck better than you, i'm not sure why you are asking us. After all you know how it has been driven, where, how it's been maintained and by whom. we don't know any of those things. Any modern motor can last a long time if it is taken care of.

That 4.3 is a tough little motor. It should last for a while unless it's abused.

I have a 1990 W/T 1500 with 135,000 miles on it. I would do it to mine. It is the best truck I have ever owned. 4.3 liter with a 5 speed and 4wd. Its no speed demon but it gets 19 mpg.
