I have a 74 Chevy Nova with a brand new 350 with MSD Ignition, Edelbrock Intake, Headman Headers, and everything else is stock. After I put it in and driving around and sitting at traffic lights it starts to head up. It gets up to 230 and that worries me in this Florida heat, and I check everything No Leaks, its time right, but I was thinking it may be the fan that's runs off the motor? That's the only thing I toke off the old motor its a flex fan, can those go bad? Im running out of ideas!!
Yeah it has the stock V8 radiator heavy duty witch is new and the Tstat I have in there is a 160! In the repair book it said to put the timing at 8* Before. The carb is also new its a Holley 670 cfm Street Avenger witch was ready out of the box and it seems its getting enough fuel. Oh yeah and it dose have a fan shroud! So like you said I may have to get a 2 or 4 core radiator.

You should be having a 4 core radiator in it for more flow for the cooling.Don't use a 2 core radiator for a V8 you don't have enough cooling capacity. The other thing you didn't mention does this have a automatic behind it or a stick.Check your fluid level out if this is a automatic to see if you have enough fluid in it.

you might try getting a couple electric fans, set one to constantly run and set the other one to run if it start getting hot
