chevy malibu maxx keyless entry remote not working right.?

I have a chevy malibu maxx. and I am having problems with the keyless remote. when I push the lock button it takes forever for the car to respond. I put a new battery in it but it still does the same thing. any ideas?

The remote is defective maybe , it can also be your car's computer.

get it checked out by a tech.
