I asked the question earlier this morning about my fuel tank leaking and I got some good answers. My husband cranked the truck and let it run for about 10 minutes. As I was running down the steps, after reading some answers, to tell him not to pump the gas, he was pumping the gas. Needless to say,the tank is now leaking again. I advised him that it would not be a good idea to drive it to the mechanic, but instead have it towed. What do you think? I also told him, if it is leaking while he is driving, and someone throws their cigarette butt out the window, he is going up in flames. I may be overreacting, but this seems serious enough. Anyway, what else can we do, or what else do yuo think is happening. Ok he just walked in and said it is not leaking anymore. Also, I didn't mention that the fuel pump was replaces back in January or February. Before it was changed, if I parked my truck on a hill with the front of the truck up, the gas needle would go up, making it look as if I had more gas (even though I know I didn't) and if I parked on a hill with the nose of the truck downhill, the needle would go down and make it seem as if I had no gas. Now, after the mechanic replaced the pump, it is the other way around, so if I park on a hill with the nose going uphill, it makes the needle go all the way down and vice versa (I hope that doesn't sound crazy, I am just mentioning that the direction of the needle changed depending on how I was parked on a hill. Ever since he replaced fuel pump, I have kept gas in it, but never filled it up (so that if anything happened again and the tank had to dropped, it wouldn't be full of gas, sort of like it is now) Any help, advice, or ANYTHING you can give me I would appreciate it.
