Chevrolet silverado information?

Well I'll be driving in less than a year and I want a truck I LOVE Chevy's but I heard they tend to have brake problems? I guess I just want to know about that if you have one or other problems they might lead to have or even what you like about it. I wanted to know this because I was up north and there was a 98 chevy silverado for sale and my grandpa told me they had horrible braking systems.

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra same as the Silverado I did the front pads a 115,000 miles and rear shoes at about 150,000 miles, so far the the truck has 170,000 miles on it with no major problems, still has original motor and transmission.

On my Silverado I replaced the rotors and pads on front. On the rear I replaced the shoes and wheel cylinders. This was right about at 100k miles. It now has 177k miles and the brakes are still fine.
