replaced the transmission in my 2004 chevy classic. I noticed that the radio wont shut off and says "CAL" on it. looking on a few things on google and youtube, it says something about a using a scanner on one and actually pulling the chip out on the other.im not totally redneck but could be if I have to.id like to get feedback on fixing it correctly. my neighbor and mechanic has a scanner, can the scanner be used to fix this and how so. the radio is staying on and its killing my battery. those waking up to a dead car really sucks. please if anyone could lend a hand it would definitely help.

Did you disconnet the battery when the transmission was replaced? Is this the original radio that came with the car? In either case a tool such as a Tech II is required and have no idea what your neighbors unit can do.
