Hey everyone,

just bought a 2009 Chevy Avalanche LT in black.

Dealer had the thing very dirty.. almost looked like a sandstorm in southern Louisiana lol

I brought it to get a quick wash @ a touchless carwash... good god.. I thought it would hold it off till I can do it myself and wow it looked awful afterwards. did a sadddd job.

So I have never detailed a car/truck myself.

I don't know what's good what's not...
I had a 98 Tacoma before this that I just didn't care to keep up with.

And now I want to take great care of this one..

So I am gonna go out to autozone and buy what I need.

I saw the turtle wax black box, then read online that it's a gimmick...

so if you could tell me everything I need, and how to use it and in what order, that would be great!

a little extra money is not a problem, so tell me the best of the best.

Thanks!
sheen is extremely important to me.

I also have rims on there I want to clean and shine.

WAIT! don't wax it yet. It is brand new and does not need to be waxed right away.

IF IT CAME DIRTY FROM THE DEALER THEY NEED TO WASH IT FOR YOU AND MAKE SURE IT IS PRISTINE. DRIVE IT BACK TO DEALER AND HAVE THEM CLEAN IT UP FOR YOU. THIS IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!

The absolute best is Zaino. It will come with each product from wash to wax/polish with specific instructions.

For all the plastic on that thing inside and out, use a product called 303 Aerospace. Most marine shops have it.

Ignore all others. Myths are rampant.

alright,
well wax, wash, polish, using microfiber towel clothes, or cotton terry cloth, i prefer microfiber though

be careful with polishes, some polishes are abrasive, others are not, no need for abrasives when the car is brand new.
ive heard mix reviews about the turtle wax ice polish, still cant figure out if its a polish or a wax, but the cool thing about it is you can use it anywhere, it wont leave the white residue like otehr wax/polishes will

for wax, theres cleaner wax, and regular wax, and those spray on waxes, but forget about those
cleaner wax kinda cleans, polishes, and waxes at the same time, but obviously wont be as good as a full wax for protection

then theres clay bars, basically removes the fine dirt particles that are embedded in the paint,
i would probalby use it, just go get your car all nice and new

cant go wrong with meguiars or mothers products
look up meguiars 5 step system

interior/tires
armor all
