automotive Chevy Silverado 4x4 wont go in 4wd was in yesterday and was working fine?

Chevy 1993 Silverado 4x4 wont go in 4wd was in yesterday and was working fine then I noticed I got stuck and 4wd wasn't working but was lit that it was.
but I can tell it's not engaged . Nothing broke or anything . No shaft hanging or snapped.
I'm assuming it is the accuator .
I just ordered a new one hoping it will fix the problem. any input would be helpful

Just my 2 cents. Try to put in 4x4 in neutral then go in reverse see if that kicks it in. Have to do this with the ford at my shop works every time
