Are 2002 2.2 pushed rod engines good?

I've got a 2002 2.2l chevy cavalier that is a dirt track car and I was considering swapping I out for a 2.2l ecotec but I'm just wondering if I could build the 2.2l push rod and still compete with the ecotec guys or if I should do the swap? I don't know much about the push rod motors or I they are any good just looking for some advice thanks.

Have no idea what mods you are permitted but I cannt imagine you will find much for the pushrod 2.2.
