Any stereo in a 98 chevy malibu does not work.?

So i tried putting a new stereo in the car and it worked great for like 2 mins and then it just shut off and wouldn't work. So i checked the connections and they were good. Then i put the stock stereo back in and it won't work either i checked the fuses and they are good. Oh. And the button lights come on on the stock stereo.

Same problem in a 2000 Malibu. I think it has something to do with that "radio stays on without the key until door opens"

I agree with running another wire to the battery and insert a new fuse in between.

You can get around this by Hard wiring the head unit to the battery,
Make sure you put fuses in the new lines, and a Switch on the Red line to turn on/off the Unit.

weird. our 98 chevy malibu radio doesn't work, but our antenna broke off. :/

check that maybe.
