I have an 02 Suburban with 250K miles. Drives well. Recently the key fob stopped working and when the key is used to unlock the car, it thinks it is being stolen and starts up and immediately shuts down. I have by passed the anti theft device (I think) however I still get stranded when he car won't start. Any suggestions?

Does the security light come on?
Did you try replacing the battery in the FOB?
What exactly did you do to bypass?

The security light came on.
I replaced the battery in the fob.
I bypassed the yellow wire with a resistor to send a consistent signal to the body control module.
Sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. Maddening.

Do you have the problem with all the keys?

There does not seem to make a difference which key I use. Sometimes the car starts and sometimes not.

Did you recheck the resistor to see if it's correct.

I had a local shop who does alarm systems do the by pass. They chose the resistance. I don't know what it is.
