Have a 1998 suburban k2500 454, at any time or not at all i hear a weird wind / whining noise when driving,, yesterday morning i started the truck and backed up and the noise was there, stopped and got out of the truck and pushed the button on the side of the door opening as if the door was closed and the noise stopped, i thought it was from under the dash, any thoughts on this.....

are you saying you hear the noise when the vehicle is stationary? If so did you try changing the vent speed to see if the noise changes?

Drove with heater fan off and whinny noise still there sometimes . It sounds like the same pitch as the buzzer when you you leave your lights on, think i'll check out the buzzer, any idea's, hope it's not the transmission, i had the transmission filter and fluid changed , vehicle has 150k miles, transmission shifts great, all idea's appreciated.. Thank you

When did you have the fluid and filter changed and was the noise there before the service was done? If it wasn't there before, I'd suggest you check the fluid level in the transmission. Maybe they didn't put enough in.

Had the filter and fluid changed last week, mechanic said everything looked good, no smell or metal pieces . Yesterday had to use 4wd/hi to get home, when i pushed the button the whining started and lasted on and off for a quarter mile or so after that never heard it again for 10 miles to home----is there a vacuum line someplace that would do that ????????

Hmmmm, I seem to recall that some of the older 4x4's had a vacuum operated module, but I don't know about yours. You could always get under it and look, but if it's stopped doing it, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
