...my battery? Just today I've had an aggravating problem with the air conditioner on my '04 Silverado. It just won't shut off. The knob that switches it from vents to floor to defroster works, but the knob that adjusts the level or turns it off doesn't. It keeps going full blast, even (and this is the worst part) when I turn the engine off. It takes several tries of shutting off and restarting the ignition to make it finally cut off, but then if I drive for a minute or so it kicks back on even though the AC switch has been off the whole time.

Is there some trick to this that I'm missing? Is this something that a guy with limited mechanic experience (like me) could fix at home or does it need to go into the shop?

Sounds like either a shorted Blower motor resister, or control panel. Both arent that hard to replace. The control head is expensive, but the resister is only $40 or so. It is located under the dash and the wires from it connect to the blower motor. Unplug it and see what happens.

got a short somewhere. Pull the fuse to cut it off until you can track it down.
