They are appearantly the same exact trans except that on some models they made a 2 part bell housing. Now that I have my transfer case out, what a pain that was, I think it may have been my transfer case that was bad. I can turn the front input shaft and it spins freely, but if I spin the front out put shaft the rear output shaft spins. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something went bad internally. Any expertise you guys can give me would be much appreciated. To tell you exactly what happened, I was on the way home and the burb started letting the rpms climb and then make a loud clunck before it would leave a stop sign or light. After about 3 miles it would start to let the rpms climb and stutter before shifting. It started getting worse after a mile, so I pulled over and shut it down. I waited a minute then restarted it to limp it home and it ran great for less than a quarter mile then it started acting up again. I shut it back down then restarted and it ran fine for about 200 feet. Then I had to stop again and it wouldn't move again. I am not sure if it is the trans or the transfer case, now that I have the case pulled.
