I recently had to replace my pinion seal and tighten the pinion nut. It came loose. We visually inspected the pinion and all parts of the rear end. Nothing looked or felt damaged. We placed everything back together and now when put into reverse the rear end clunks. We now notice that when we loosen the drive shaft the yoke coming from the rear end moves a little in both rotating directions. It moves a little clock wise and counter clockwise before the pinion gear actually grabs and spins the tires. Is the Pinion bad? I have been told there is an adjustment I can make to something to fix this. Is there? Thanks VERY much for any help!!!!!
Yes, I had to replace the pinion outer pinion bearing. No I did not have anything apart other than the diff cover off and the yoke and rear pinion bearing. Thanks
