'99 Chevy Cavalier z24 convertible help!

I've got a 1999 cavalier z24 convertible and i'm having some serious problems with the power window regulator on the driver's side. I purchased a brandy-spankin new window regulator (with motor) and somehow i'm having the same problems. At first it seemed that once in awhile the window didn't want to roll back up when it was raining. Now it doesn't matter what the weather is like and its happening a lot more frequently. To get it to work again, i have to beat on the motor relatively hard. I can't understand how it could be the motor since its brand new... this is driving me absolutely crazy. My husband suggested converting it to manual windows but i don't know if i can even do that with a convertible? did some convertibles come with manual regulators?? would i be able to get away with using a regular coup manual regulator? I know the convertible doors are longer but they're so expensive

how do you know the switch isnt causing the problem, the connections could be corroded.

haha, i was waiting for my email to tell me if anyone ever replied. i guess i shouldn't rely on my email.

Well, i know because i had a mechanic look at it. He's absolutely positive its the motor. Something is causing the motor to burn up... and something caused the previous motor to burn up. The window doesn't go up and down quite the way it should, it sounds like its getting caught on something and its all wobbly. I have no idea what to do... if i order a whole nother door what are the chances it'll have the same problem? that's if i can even find one... the convertibles suck when it comes to parts availability...

would a coupe door fit on a convertible?

if you are working with a mechanic and he cannt find the problem and cannt tell you what to do to correct the problem, it is is time to find a new mechanic. You may want to try working with a body shop since they are more familiar with damage done to window tracks etc. as a result of collisions. You also could try opening up the other door to see what is different between them causing the loose fit of the window. If you really intend to replace the whole door salvage/junk yards have interchange guides to tell you what will fit.

Wow! The Pull-A-Part junkyard in Nashville shows to have 8 1999 Cavaliers in the yard. You can get a complete door there for fifty bucks. And, no, I won't go get one and ship it. Been screwed over one too many times on deals like that. According to their cross reference guide, anywhere from a 1995-2004 Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire will fit. Could that be correct? I don't know. Seems like a wide year range unless the body style platform remained the same for those 10 years.
