97 chevy malibu, theft system light comes on and wont let my car move?

I few times, periodically, my car starts but wont move. Then I see the theft system light is blinking along with my oil light and battery light. I try putting it in gear but it wont move, i tried pressing on the gas, didnt even hear the engine rev... Then if i just take the key out and leave the car off for awhile the teft system light goes off and my car runs fine. I checked the oil level and its fine too. i dont understand why its doing this..
