you need to check the brake light switch and also look on the back of the tail lights at the ground wire, chevy uses a real thin ground wire on their wiring harness and sometimes it wont make a good connection and that will cause them not to work right,its more than likely the brake light switch going bad on it,you may also notice the cruise control not functioning right ,its also works off the brake light switch on that truck,good luck with it.
