I've got a 1988 K5 Blazer 4x4 350 TBI with a 4 speed and when it warms up it idles at about 1500 rpm. I checked for a code , got 24 vehicle speed sensor, I don't think that would mess with the idle would it ? If it is the Throttle Position Sensor , or the Idle Air Control Valve , or something else the computer controls I would get a Trouble Code right ? Any ideas
Thanks , Steve

start by looking for a vacuum leak, rubber hoses or at base of TB or brake booster

So I got the speed sensor in the mail today , installed it , now the idle is about 400 RPM , it even died at a few lights . The computer controls the idle , doesn't it , how do I turn up the idle ?

start by cleaning IAC if that doesnt work try the next steps
1.Jump A and B terminal on ALDL Connector.
2.Key ON(wait 30sec.), Engine OFF.
3.With Key ON, Remove IAC Connector under the hood.
4.Back to ALDL Connector and remove jumper at A and B terminals.
5.Start engine.
6.Locate plug on driver's side of TBI and remove plug to access idle screw.
7.Engine running and trans in gear, adjust that screw until you achive 550rpm.
8.Engine off, reconnect the IAC wire and start engine.
9.IAC now controls idle as it should.
