Hi!

When I bought my 87 Suburban the thumb press from the cargo door handle was in the glove box. To use it I have to insert it manually each time.

Wondering if I can repair it with maybe some kind of fastener/cap on the end of the rod? Attaching some pics.

Thanks!

you cannt use an expoxy glue?

Thanks for your reply! I don't think that would work. The rod must be free to move in and out. What seems to make it more complex is the locked position determines the range of movement.

Looks like you're missing a piece to me. Shouldn't there be a shiny "button" with a flange around the outside of it that installs in the hole from the backside? The flange would hold the button in place with the rod in the middle, so when you press it, the rod will move and depress the linkage to open the door.

Thanks Chuzz, that's what I was wondering, what kind of part is missing. If I can identify it I can see about finding it.

Are there repair manuals or parts schematics online? I wasn't able find one.

I can't really tell you what you're missing, man. I'd just suggest popping the door panel off the other side and doing a comparison. Mirror image thing, you know?
