82 chevy camaro issues?

hey there so iv been having some issues with my car and iv been asking alot on here for awhile so i wasnt really geting what i wanted so i went to a shop and asked them and there ancwer was a little better to my problem so now im going to ask a second opinion.. so here it is my car would start when cold and when hot it wont it sounds like the battery is dead but the alt and battery are brand new sooooo the shop says its my starter and because i have headers they are geting it to hot so when its runing for awile it heats it to much they said go to lordco and pick up some starter rap for 50 bux? could this be the problem.. keep in mind that my car has been tuned and timing has been done.. there is no problem at all when its cold it starts first go (car is also carb) anyways hope you can help me out thanks
