700 R4 No Overdrive

I guess it could be a check valve or ball inside the valve body. Is that what he's referring to? Will it hit overdrive if you manually shift through the gears from low to Drive? If so, then you dad is probably right about it being in the valve body. Maybe the pressure isn't right and won't allow a valve to change position or a check ball to move when it's supposed to. Perhaps a good transmission flush and new fluid and filter would help. Back when I worked for Autozone, we used to sell a transmission flush in a can. It was similar to Gunk engine cleaner, but instead of a sliver can like the Gunk, the can was blue. I even had a customer that rebuilt transmissions tell me he put a can of Marvel Mystery Oil in every transmission that he rebuilt. I don't recommend it, I'm just saying that he bought a lot of it.

You started this thread by saying this transmission was recently rebuilt and worked in the previous truck. You are 100% sure it was rebuilt and that it worked? The other question is under moderate acceleration to say 60 mph do you hear the transmission upshift 3 times and can see the upshifting on the tachometer as the engine speed drops 3 times? This transmission has 4 speeds and the 4th speed is the overdrive gear. Was the previous transmission also a 700R4?

It does drop 3 times but on the third time it will only drop a little bit.
It did work and I have a video although its kinda crappy quality.

I adjusted the TV cable and am getting better shifts at lower RPMs but still no Overdrive. Friend suspects that no overdrive may be caused by an internal problem such as a stuck check valve.

Me and him are going to look in it soon.
