4-wheel drive indicator

I have a 2005 Chevy Suburban with almost all the bells and whistles. The owner's manual says that there is an instrument cluster icon (four wheels with the front wheels turned at about 45degrees) that should illuminate when it goes into 4 wheel drive. The dealer says not. Is there a 2005 Suburban owner who could verify this. And, when if ever, does the icon illumunate.
