2wd truck using 4wd switch

I got a 1500 2wd chevy truck and I was wondering if I can use the 4wd switch for other accessories like a light bar etc. and if it's possible that I can rig it up for the lights to turn on when the interior lights turn on. I also hate the look of the empty pocket that can't hold anything there so ether way I'm going to cover it
 
Are you saying there is a switch already there or you want to put a switch in the blank spot? If it is a blank spot you can wire it any way you want.
 
Wire the light bar or something else? You want it to work with both the switch and the interior lights? If so, run a hot lead from the fuse box to the lightbar and then the ground lead to the switch and a lead to the door button switch that turns on the interior lights.
 
Well that's kinda what I want but I want it to light up when the dash lights turn on when I turn on the headlights and everything
 
so what is the purpose of the switch on the console?
 
To use for accessories like a normal switch would be used but I want to operate like a normal 4wd switch such as night up with dash lights
