On our 2022 Suburban High Country, the running boards have LED ground lighting under them. When you unlock and open a door at night the running boards extend and illuminate the ground. Nice. However, if the vehicle is running and in park and someone opens a door, the running boards extend but with no ground lighting. Is there a setting I am missing in the menu or is that just the way it is set up? Is there a way to manually turn them on? Seems odd that when you approach the vehicle and unlock, it lights up but not when anyone else tries to enter the vehicle once running/unlocked???

I can’t figure out the formula.. sometimes they light up, and sometimes they don’t on my 2023 Yukon Denali. It’s a mystery.

I have courtesy lighted running boards. When remote started.
Today a friend of mine was able to wire them to stay on when parking or headlights are on.
So it is possible to rewire for illumination at night while running. Simple wire fix in the outside harness of the running board.
B4 this fix, I had 5meter led strips white lights mounted on top of the courtesy lights. Lasted acouple of months but the 1st. Snow and road salt destroyed them with corrosion. 500$ job at a custom truck shop wasted on installation.
