I have a 2018 Equinox With-Out a towing package installed. I connected a 7pin to 4pin adapter to the factory 7pin connector. When I connect my trailer to the 4pin plug the running lights work perfectly, the passenger side lights work perfectly BUT the driver side light has no brake or turn lights! When I switch the outputs on the car 4pin connector the drivers side works perfectly but the passenger side stops working. Do I need to have the Towing Package installed or do I have a problem with factory 7pin connector?? Dealer wants $200min. just to look at the problem.
Thanks for any input someone can give me

Have you done any testing with a voltmeter or test light? Have you considered a private shop?

Yes I have. Steady 14volts for running lights circuit. When I put on flashers I get 0-14-0-14 etc... on both taillight circuits at 4pin plug. But I soon as I plug in trailer I lose voltage at drivers side tail light. If it is a wiring issue then the light would not work when I switch outputs.

Have you checked grounds on trailer?

Not using trailer as my ground. Installed separate ground wire ( hard ground wire).
