I have traveled from Illinois to Colorado and now my engine light has gone on. I have tightened my gas cap but the light has not gone off. I don't know if the engine has been effected by poor gas or high altitude, or another problem. I am hoping that the computer will reset and the engine light will go off. The car seems to be running fine. It has not lost power nor is the engine running rough. I have not gone to the Chevy dealer or gone to an auto parts store to have a code read from the computer. Does anyone have suggestions?

you already seem to have the answer. You need the code read either at an auto parts store (they usually do it free) , an independent shop or a dealer

I disconnected the negative battery cable and waited about 2 minutes before connecting it. The engine light has gone out. Now I just drive and wait to see if the light goes back on. :)

I assume you don't have On-Star, they can tell you what the code is
