I was told that my truck can have the factory OEM GM remote start installed and was wanting to know what I would need?
2 new Fob's with remote start and have the GM shop to reprogram the computer and ????

Yes in the 7th row of RPO CODES listed in my glove box I see AP8

You have to buy a GM install kit such as 17801236 which includes the Fobs, check with the dealer for the correct number, and have the dealer install it.

1BadDad,
Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns. Can you please message me with your VIN? I am happy to look into this for you. I look forward to your response.

The service dept. and parts dept. actually had lots of knowledge about this.

If your truck has the RPO code of AP8 all you'll need is this part number 17801236 and have them program the remotes.

My total cost will be $235.00 installed. Will be doing this Monday

Well I bit the bullet. I can now say I'm good to go and the price was more than what they said. They only priced the unit and still charge labor.
But hey I am not complaining as it works as promised and I get about 500 ft with no obstructions 300 with and believe it or not I work in a guard tower and it's at least 800 ft from there to the lot and it starts. Being higher seem to give better distance.

That being said I'm not at all disappointed as I can start it from hundreds of miles away using my phone and the onstar app. So distance is no issues here.

Total out the door. 292.38.

P.S. a professionally installed aftermarket can run you more and you have to pay extra to get it to work with your phone

glad to hear it was pretty simple
