2010 YukonXL2500 Fuel tank/system failure

Started with less than 3/4 tank. Topped of tank and when the pump clicked off a small amount of gas burped out of the filler neck. Removed nozzle and replaced gas cap. ~13.3 gal. All normal so far. Started driving and resetting trip/fuel info and noticed the fuel gauge read just over 1/2 full. Stopped after about 2 miles for about 10 minutes. Resumed driving toward the highway after another 4-5 miles at 35-45 MPH a grinding noise started. The main fuel tank expanded until the tin shield started rubbing the driveline. No check engine light yet. After about 15 minutes gas started dripping/running out near the rear bumper. Gas continued to leak until the tank pressure fell some ( the tank is now more than an inch from the driveline ). I did not catch all gas, may have been a gallon. Any thoughts? Thanks
 
The evap system failed to vent allowing a pressure buildup. Without seeing the vehicle hard to pinpoint the cause.
 
Is there a check valve in the main tank. If the check valve is closed can the rear tank/pump pressurize the main tank?
