2010 Chevrolet Silverado transmission problem?

I just purchased a 2010 silverado extended cab texas edition with the 5.3 liter motor and 6 speed tranny. I think I am having a couple of issues, and would like someones expertise. I do realize I have a full bumper to bumper warranty, but would rather make sure I have a problem before I go without having a vehicle. The issues I believe I am having are as follows:

1. The transmission is often not smooth. A lot of the issues are around the 30 mph range. If I am accelerating, then let off the gas, then press it again to accelerate farther, I often feel and small jolt. It is not smooth at all. The same will happen if I am accelerating then let off the gas, I often feel a small jolt when I let off the gas. This all happens around the 30mph range, and happens fairly often. I also can here when this happens if I have the music off. It sounds like a "thud". It is not overly loud, but is something I can hear. Also, I pushed tow/haul mode the other day while driving, and the tranny freaked out. Made a whole bunch of thuds and caused the vehicle to slow somewhat rapidly. To me, the best way to describe a lot of it is the transmission just feels "loose". Often times when I accelerate as stated previously, it is almost like it takes a second for the transmission to realize and then it just kinda "kicks" in and goes.

2. In first gear, the radiator seems somewhat noisy, I think thats what it is at least. It is only in first gear. But the fan is somewhat loud, nothing crazy, but it is the only gear I can hear it in. It is similar to how older vehicles sound when it is really hot outside and they are trying to stay cool, but it happens everytime the vehicle is in first gear. Then lastly, when accelerating, anything above 3500 rpms there is almost a hissing noise. Similar to how a supercharger sounds.

My questions are, is all of this normal? It does not seem to me like a brand new truck should be acting like this. I would really appreciate someone who is knowledgeable in these areas. Thanks for the help?

personally I would take the truck to the shop, you do not have to micro dissect every little tiny noise, the truck is new, the transmission issue sounds like a problem. keeping your mouth SHUT AT THIS POINT call the dealership, till them you have had some problems with the transmission not shifting right, and that's all, because your truck has a computer, that tracks what the tranny is doing, it will show any fault codes to the tech in the form of problems, so if it is shifting weird or making thuds, an error code lets the tech know something is wrong, you are not a transmission specialist, so tell them its shifting funny around 30 and let them check it out. Now do yourself a favor, READ THE OWNERS MANUAL, im pretty sure it does not say and while you are driving 55 reach over like a dork and push the tow/haul button. duhhh ok? read the owners manual. and remember, if you do not do the maintenance exactly as specified, you will lose your warranty, so do all the oil changes don't go change the oil at 4000 miles, if it says 3000 miles, then change the oil at 2,999 ok. your truck is not broken in yet, when you take your truck to the dealer to check out the tranny, they will take if for a 30 minute ride, then go hook it up to the computer, if they send it back to you and say its fine GOOD, BE GLAD, STOP WORRYING, BE HAPPY, GET IN THE TRUCK AND DRIVE HOME, NOT EVERYONE HAS A 2010 TRUCK OK?

I also just purchased a 2010 Chevy Silverado Crew cab on the 10/9/2010. The owners manual states that you should not be towing anything within the first 500 mile break in period, however I think that was just for the added stress/ weight that actually towing something puts on the new motor and NOT just pushing the button. Now that I've said that I will say that you should push the button before you start moving or come to a stop after moving and then push the button. Will pushing the button at speed really do any damage? Probably not....The only thing the tow/haul mode does is tell the transmission to stay in the gears for a longer period of time to give the truck more power while towing (which also depends on your rear gear ratios). Also during the first 500 miles of "break in" you should not exceed 55 miles an hour or drive at one speed for an extended period of time. Will it cause major damage to your truck if you drive to fast or at one speed for to long? Probably not but why chance it. Now towing something before the break in period is up could damage the truck. If your hearing these noises they do not appear to be normal to me. My truck is very quite mechanical wise (knock on anything you can find) as of right now. However I do agree with the previous poster: TAKE IT TO THE DEALER! You have a warranty for a reason. Use it! and read the owners manual. Hope that wasn't to long a reply and was helpful. This is my first truck and I'm very happy so far!!
