i just bought a 2500 HD P/U truck w/ the 6.0 Gas Motor. it didn't have a plow on it but had snow plow prep and the dealer had a seperate company add it. my question is shouldn't i have 2 batteries? my neighbor just bought the exact same truck and it has dual batteries same year and every thing.
they are both gas motors and both have a 160 amp alternator with a snow plow prep package

on you should'nt nessisarily have dual batts. 2 batts are not at all required to plow snow or for the plow pack. i have an 03 HD with the plow prep. pack and i don't have dual batts either. 2 batts are nice to have to the point that they can help run additioninal equiptment but you don't need them. the factory alternator is far more capible. yes you can add an after market dual batt. set up but if any thing you would be far better useing the money to just upgrade the factory 600 cca batt. to a good 800 or 875 cca batt. most 875 cca batts. generaly put out 900-1000 cca and 1100-1200 ca. with your alt. and the 875 cca batt. you'll be good to go for plowing or towing a city worth of lights. as far as why your truck does'nt have 2 and your friend's does. gm did have a dual batt. option but it needs to be orderd. my old 93 c/k had dual batts. eather your friend orderd his that way or someone did or when the dealer orderd it from gm they did it as a selling point and it's really not becase it is unnessisary. hope i've added a bit of insight for you.
