I thought I would try another forum for some advice hoping to get past being accused of being "cheap" for not just hiring the dealership to do what looks like a pretty basic parts swap, or being told I should hire a certified technician to do a diagnosis for me with the implication that I am not even smart enough to know its broken. ;)

Ok, now that we have that out of the way...

2007 Malibu Maxx LTZ. Turn signal lever will not stay engaged when flipped to signal left. It will not disengage automatically after completing a turn when flipped to signal right.

I already pulled the switch assembley and it is a mechancial problem inside the switch assembley. I opened the assembly and found that it is broken. A piece of plastic "CAM" was found broken loose inside the assembley. I do not need to take it to a technician to tell me that. It needs to be replaced. It was obviously a bad design as this partcular vehicle was "inherited" and has less than 10K miles on it so far. Had we put more miles on the vehicle it might have failed sooner and been repaired under warranty, but as its a 2007 taking it to the dealer at this point would only cost more money.

Upon doing some research online it appears that it is an OEM part number D6253E. I was told that it was redesigned (no surprise there given poor design to begin with) and it requires not only that part, but also to replace the mounting bracket it goes into. That part number I was unable to find.

Would anybody be so kind as to provide the part number for the bracket that goes with the new design switch?

Is the new bracket really required for the new design switch?

Is the D6253E the new design switch or left over new old stock of the old design switch?

check www.gmpartsdirect.com for the bracket. doesnt the service bulletin provide the numbers? the number you are using is an AC/Delco number the chevy number would be all numeric and the bracket also. This link lists the Chevy numbers for the switch and bracket, bracket 21994375 .

Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for. The parts diagram does the trick. The AC/Delco part number is listed as an alternative on the link you provided by the way.

That definitely looks like the right number part on the bracket.
