experienced this? I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and the problem is the back gate/trunk will not open w/remote. Yes batteries have been checked in the remote. I have to pull it open the old fashioned way with the button on the hatch. It will make the sound as if it is opening with the remote, but I have to again pull it open. Just trying to save $1000's asking before I take it into be serviced. Thanks 10 points best answer!
Below is the linkage rod located on door on the side panel or the door itself?

Had a similar problem with my Caprice wagon. The back window would not open with the switch on the dash. It was the actuator as stated in the previous post. One of the 2 mounting holes cracked and it was just hanging there so when I pushed the button, it would still move but it was not pushing the linkage. I got another actuator from the junk yard and it was good as new for a while. Then it cracked again in the same spot, so I removed the screw and put a washer under it and tightened it down. That held it in place and I never messed with it again. You'll have to remove the door panel to find the actuator. Mine was a cylinder shape, maybe about 6 inches long, with a small plunger at one side that would pop in and out to push the linkage.

There is a little electric motor inside the tailgate, called an 'actuator'. The actuator is linked to the door locking mechanism with a metal rod that pushes and pulls on the lock to open/close it. It's most likely that the actuator motor is not functioning properly, or the rod linking the actuator to the locking mechanism is bent. It shouldn't cost $1000s to fix. I would guess a few hundred at the most, for both parts and labor.

I've had that problem w/my 07 too... To be honest, I can't wait to get rid of it! It's been one thing after another since I got it... Good Luck!
