The "tighten fuel cap" message has appeared twice this week so far. Each time I have removed the cap, followed by myself checking to make sure nothing was blocking the immediate threads. I have proceeded to properly tighten the fuel cap. The fuel cap is not worn. the check engine light will not go off, which is supposed to go hand in hand with this problem. I am concerned as to what could be causing this.

its gonna take a while for the light to go off if it was the fuel cap at least a week is how long it took on my car but then again it was another make. check online there are some places desperate for business and will run a diagnostic check for free dont take it to the dealer they over price everything and if you do get the diagnostic done if there is another issue you can get that taken care of at the shop.

It takes a few engine cycles for the check engine light to go off. You may have a clogged vent line that will sometimes cause the check cap light to come on. We have had a few people that live down dirt roads get this same issue.

the cap may look good but it may not be so get a new one and to turn the check engine light off unhook the battery for about 5 minutes and hook it back up the light should go off if not then have the truck checked for other problems
