2005 Chevrolet Malibu base coolant leak

Hello my GF just got an 05 Malibu and we noticed it was leaking coolant from the overflow hose and I was wondering if the overflow hose needed to have a clamp on it and was it supposed to be connected to anything?

is the leak where the hose connects to the bottle?
when cold how much coolant is in the plastic bottle?
is the engine temperature more than half way on the scale towards the H ?

Its the top hose where the resevoir cap is but its coming out from the other end.
I filled it to that max line last night and this morning the low coolant light was on.
The temperature was a little bit under the half mark. The car wasn't running hot.

The hose where it connects to the plastic reservoir tank when new does not have a clamp but over a 10 years span it might need one now. How low was it before filling it, you may have a cooling system leak.

Just took it to a shop and they a did a pressure test and said the resevoir or radiator cap wasn't tight. I don't know if they tightened it or not as she hasn't gotten home yet but she said the warning light came on again. So you may be right.
