Thanks for your patience here. I am looking at buying a used suburban for me and my family. I have narrowed it down to two in my area...one is a 2004 with 143000 miles roughly and the other is a 2006 with the same amount of miles. The 2006 is $4000 more, priced at $12000. They look very similar and drive well. Both are 4x4. Is there any reason that I should spend the extra 4000 on the one that is two years newer? Is this type of mileage too high? This will mainly be our recreational vehicle to the mountains nearby with the occasional road trip over the pass. No more than an 8 hour one way trip would be planned for this truck. Anyway, any advice or peace of mind would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Personally, I'd go with the cheaper of the two. Basically the same vehicle with the same amount of miles, so why spend the extra money just for something two years newer? All that means to me is that the 06 model has been driven more. Drive them both and make a decision, but unless there's a huge difference in the condition, go with 04. Even if you have to do a little work to it, four grand should cover most anything you'll need with money left over for a vacation.

Thanks. I just wanted to confirm that there was nothing newer in terms of style or improvements. Still feel like that is a lot of miles but it is hard to find them with less in that price range. Everyone I talk to says they live them and if taken care of will run forever.
