2004 Chevy Avalanche Z66 Speedometer problem?

Well its kinda weird because when you start the truck the speedometer works correctly telling you how fast your going but after a while the speedometer wont increase if the truck increases speed, if the truck slows down the speedometer does to and when stopping it goes to zero then when accelerating in wont work but if you restart the engine it will work again for a while whats wrong? I dont think its the speed sensors because it works for a while then stops? And its shifting good not to high or to low?

Try taking the cable loose an putting some grafffite in it

bad gauge cluster those trucks are bad about it. had an 05 lanche do the same thing and it eventually quit workin all together. you can get a used or new one the only thing is with a used one you cant set the odometer to your mileage.
